Certification and Endorsement
Schools must complete certification and endorsement in MyPortal.
Certification
At the start of the school year, verify scholarship recipients that have enrolled in your school. Tell us which students on your roster are enrolled and provide cost information. In the next few weeks, you should also certify students as not enrolled as you confirm they will not enroll.

Endorsement
At the beginning of each semester, verify scholarship recipients that are enrolled and attending. During endorsement, you will review and approve final award amounts.

Do not endorse any student before school starts. Schools that start after Labor Day may certify but should wait to endorse until school starts.

Timeline
Certification for Schools that accept direct payments takes place once, at the start of the school year, and endorsement takes place each semester.
-
School completes certification (August)
-
School completes endorsement (fall, spring)
-
Parent completes endorsement (fall, spring)
-
Schools receive funds (1-2 weeks after parent endorsement)

Frequently Asked Questions
Make sure that your school has completed all requirements, included required webinars. New schools are required to watch the webinars on Best Practices, Payment Process, and Student Withdrawals before completing certification.
There are a few reasons why a student may remain or appear later on the Not Yet Certified Roster:
- There may be a technical issue if a student you have certified shows up on the Not Yet Certified Roster.
- If a student transfers, the student will need to be certified at the new school.
- SEAA processes such as verification may delay the availability of certification.
Contact NPS@ncseaa.edu if you have questions about the Not Yet Certified Roster.
You can make corrections to Certification as long as you make changes before Endorsement. Schools cannot independently correct errors after Endorsement. Making corrections after Endorsement will significantly delay payments.
Schools receive funds once Certification and Endorsement are complete, usually 1-2 weeks after parents complete Endorsement.
